14th April - Whirlypit is a young upcoming band based in Edinburgh, playing a wide range of traditional and self-penned material. Its sound is rooted in the Scottish tradition, but draws inspiration from many others - Scandinavian, Quebecois, Jazz and East European. The members play with passion and energy. They work to together to create new music, which draws from the different backgrounds of the band members, to create a sound that is more than the sum of its parts. All the musicians in the band are well established on the traditional music scene in Scotland. 5th May - Craig, Morgan and Robson are three terrific voices coming together in one outstanding a-capella harmony group having an effortless range and variety unheard in folk music for many years. Moira, Sarah and Carolyn perform with consummate ease dramatic traditional ballads, lilting love songs and the occasional cutting edge contemporary work. Their glorious and often intensely moving harmony singing, combined with the warmth of their stage presence, has been aptly described as "a mix made in heaven". Since their formation late on in 2003 they've been captivating audiences in Britain and the USA, and are now to be seen in the line up of numerous folk festivals. Their first CD "Peppers and Tomatoes" has been described as "A gem of an album" Club Information - Gordon Pearson Tel. 01620 822925 Club Website - Laurie Brett www.haddingtonfolkclub.co.uk Booking Enquiries - Peter Brown Booking Enquiries - | ||||||||
